RE: K&N Gen II problem

I'm running the Intense Performance intake on the stock air hat without any
support for the filter or tube. Been like that for nearly 4 years and it
seals fine. I've never even been concerned with it sealing and my oil
analysis doesn't show any silicon (dirt) readings even close to the low end
of average.

Has anyone else had trouble with this thing? From the day I got mine I was
always suspicious about how well it sealed to the throttle body (on the
driver side of the airhat), so being paranoid as I am, I overtightened the
nut and have stripped out the stud on more than one occasion.
I think part of the problem is that there is too much weight for that one
nut/stud on the airhat to support. The included support for the air tube
just doesn't cut it, in my opinion.
I finally had to put the factory setup back on because I'm tired of worrying

about it. I just can't understand why K&N didn't design their friggin'
airhat to bolt to the friggin' factory stud!
