I use to replace my wiper blades as soon as they started streaking. I use
to. No more. A older gentleman I respect a great deal, who is very wise in
the ways of the world, has driven more miles than 10 people put together,
told me as soon as you start to see the blades streaking, you need to clean
them with dish soap and water using a nylon scrub pad. He recommended Dawn.
After scrubbing and rinsing the blades, a good wipe down with paper towels
is needed to ensure you get all the road grime and such off the blades. Keep
wiping till the towels no longer have a black streak on them. I've been
doing this for over 10 years now. I last replaced the blades on my Dak with
Bosch blades.....3 years ago. I use the Rainx washer fluid and do regular
cleaning of the blades and they still work great. Oh, you want to know the
wise old gentleman that gave me that bit of mechanical advice? It was my
Dad. He was a rural letter carrier for 30 years with a route that averaged
70 miles a day, and he drove school bus for over 50 years. Dad gave up
driving school bus a couple years ago and just this past year decided to
give up his 39 ft fifth wheel trailer. This past month, he gave up his
motorcycle (to me...Thanks Dad!!) and is now considering buying a slide in
pick-up camper so he can still go have some fun. I'll get down off the soap
box now.... You can return to your regular scheduled DML programming.....

Hey, Steve...

<snip> Who said they were bad<snip>

I haven't commented on this thread yet, so here's my input... I didn't like
the Silblades..The first pair I got lasted maybe15 months...then they really
started streaking badly...seeing as 15 months is a tad short of their 5-year
warranty, I e-mailed the mfr... he recommended cleaning with soap &
water...tried that - still streaked...
They sent me a replacement pair - at no cost to me...I thought, Cool! I like
them a little better now...
at least they honor their claim....the 2nd pair lasted 6 months & started
streaking badly... I said F**k it,
& have been using Bosch blades ever since... got almost 18 months on them &
they're JUST starting to streak
Cost 10 bucks each at Wallyworld...

Just my $.02k
