Unfortunately Bernd beat me to it as I have been out of town for a my uncles
funeral.

Definitely do a compression test, average of 50 per cyl would indicate a
faulty timing chain/gear component.

I had meant to ask you waht year/motor your DAK is as well since i just went
througha timing chain/gears replacement at approximately 95k on a jasper(or
marshall I cant recall) reman. The teeth on the larger timing gear were damn
neart completely sheered off. The mechanic that fixed it said that he had
never seen a steel timing gear do this before. This reman was done in 2000
and may contains parts of the same material lots as newer 3.9s and 5.2s vs.
my '95.

As in engine sound normal, does it seem to "turnover" faster than usual?
Maybe seem like your battery is everlasting.... These were my symptoms
however I was getting spark while it turned over... another indication that
you have a different problem as well
