While there are certain cases where the extended warranty didn't cover
something...you need to read the warranty items covered, stipulations, and
read the fine print. I can't count how many times an extended warranty has
saved a customer thousands of dollars on a repair. Prime example: 4.7L Ram
with 98K miles on the clock. Head gasket let go and killed the engine.
Extended warranty covered all but the $100 deductible. PCM's, Electronic
items (that aare covered), and driveline parts can easily run you into the
$500+ range. Personally, i'd rather spend $100 for a deductible than almost
$1000 on a repair.

honestly, i would stay away from the extended warranties. my mother had
one, she was sold when she bought her Chrsyler Voyager (brand new). well,
when she took it in for some repairs under the warranty, they refused to
cover a lot of the stuff that should be covered. they claimed "the
computer" doesn't authorize it. unfortunately for them, the "JUDGE" might
make a change on that, when my mom had to drop $600 on repairs, that,
according to the language on the contract, isn't specifically excluded.
save the money for mods on that beast.

I'm trying to get all of these details considered before I make an offer
on a SRT10. I'm now weighing my options on extended warranties. I've
never bought one before. Have you fellas been generally well-served by
your Chrysler Extended warranty? I got a $1285 "Maximum Care" quote for
7yr/50k miles from in-service date. Seems reasonable to me. It's the
top-tier plan that covers anything mechanical including electrical,
instrumentation, HVAC...the stuff I hate to work on.
Also...Does the "5-star" dealer designation mean much or is it mostly
marketing?
