#1 could also be a loose wire to the sender, or one that's somehow broken
internally, or a bad sender. They're all easier to check and replace than
the others, I'd try them first.
#2 could just be a clunk in the steering. Is it a 4x4 or 4x2? My '92 has
had a clunk in the steering from the first almost with nothing obviously
loose or broken, and it's still clunking a little and still just working
fine.
