Merrell,

You're gonna hate this, but...

At 80K miles, I finally took my '92 Dak to Just Brakes for it's
1st brake service. What did they find, you ask? About 25%
left on front pads, 10% left on rear shoes, discs/drums worn
smoothly, cylinders/bearings in good shape.

They replaced pads and shoes, turned rotors and drums,
repacked bearings and flush/fill for $150 in about 2 hours.

HOWEVER,

Tooks momma's '95 Ram 250 Van w/ 25K miles to same
shop. They found a terribly warped front rotor, ready-to-fail
cylinder, rear shoes nearly gone.

Turned rotors/drums, new pads/shoes, rebuilt one cylinder,
replace the other cylinder, new bearings, flush/fill for about
$240 in 4 hours. They also wanted to upgrade pads/shoes
and rebuild pistons, which would have added about $90 to
the bill. Said bad rotor would need to be replaced at around
50K, or next brake service.

Win some, lose some,

Ken

first post, so please bear with me. have checked faq but
doesn't really answer my problem. have a 93 2wd,318 ci, and
extended cab. also have warped rotors and worn pads. at
27000 miles. seems like too soon to need a brake job, but
thats what's diagnosed. been quoted $180 +/- by dealer,
which seems high. any thoughts or advice? supposed to
include chrysler parts and some new brake pad. any
experience out there similar to mine. TIA.
