Dakota Folks:
I just got off the phone with one of the technicians at Chevron Canada
(B.C.). As I run Chevron gasoline exclusively he suggested that there was no
need to add fuel injector cleaner (techron already in the fuel), unless I
noticed that it was starting to ping after about 10 - 15,000 miles using my
normal grade of gas. If so, he suggested a container of techron (of
course!) concentrate once per year.
He also indicated, on engines with knock sensors (ie. my '97 Dakota), the
computer adjusts the timing to suit the grade of gasoline. Therefore, the
higher the octane, the better the performance. A shot of techron
concentrate every 10 - 15,000 miles would be considered good preventative
maintenance.
Thanks for your comments.
