valve cover gaskets

Here's another question for any of you out there who have
replaced your valve covers (or gaskets)... and maybe for
those who haven't. :-) I'm putting the Mopar Magnum valve
covers on, and the kit comes with its own valve covers. I
was reading my FSM, about valve cover removal, etc.
(cylinder head cover, they call it) and it says that the
gaskets are reusable. I thought there was some talk about
this a while back, maybe Kuk... something about having a
blowout and having to redo the gaskets again... Also, listed
in the MP catalog is a set of heavy duty Magnum engine valve
cover gaskets (like $20-25). Should I get the heavy duty
gaskets, use the ones that come with the kit, or reuse the
ones already on the truck?? Opinions, ideas, comments??
TIA

Nedster:

The gaskets that come *with* the Mopar Magnum valve covers are going to work
great. Don't buy any other gaskets. Man, I've never seen such nice gaskets
just for the valve covers. With ten bolts in each cover, these things should
work just fine. :^)

I would be very suspicious of someone "blowing out" their valve cover gaskets.
That indicates very high crankcase pressures which means there is something
seriously wrong with the engine.

Most of the time, these little guys leak because someone has bent their valve
covers from over-torquing them. Go easy on the little fellas. :^)

Ned, get that new TBI installed so you can let me know how it works. I've
gotta get some more "go-faster" parts before I go up against that Meldrum guy.
:^) :^) :^)
