The parts manual does not distinguish between any models, concerning the
hood sound deadening pad. However from what I have seen all Sport's and
all SLT's are *supposed* to have it, but not the Base models.
I have literature some where that calls out the "heavy-duty sound
insulation package" which is unique to the SLT's, but does not enumerate
what is included.

Got one more item for the FAQ that I need help on. I think that the 97
SLT comes standard with the under hood pad correct? My Sport Plus does
not but I went down to the dealer and popped all of the hoods on all
their SLT's and Sports/Plus's. I found three Sports and one Sport Plus
with the under hood pad. Now something is amiss here, I have every
single option on my truck with the exception of the automatic and the
anti-lock brakes, and the CD player. Check yours and let me know...
