Performance Throttle Body?

                DML,
Whew its been quite a few days. I put Franks throttle
body on Friday
evening. The workmanship was superb! Frank unshrouded
it and continued the
pressure recovery angle up to the inlet he also shaved
the lower throttle
shaft and used button head screws with no thread
"overhang" to the top side.
Installation was a breeze, although I needed to clean up
my manifold at the
center divider and port match the TB gasket (my manifold
casting had a
shifted inside core that left about an 1/8" of material
under the right TB
                inlet bore).
The R/T was running great with NO bad side effects and
what felt like a lot
more power! It was late so I parked it after a 30 mile
cruise and went in
for the evening. The next morning I got ready for the
strip by washing the
truck. After the wash I started it and got a check
engine light. OUCH! it
ran like hell. To make this short, it ended up being
the JET chip giving up
the ghost on me... BUT comparison be damned I removed
the module,
reconnected the MP comp and went to the strip anyhow.
Of course it was a
record 105F day with 95% humidity! Not many nuts at
the strip... Anyhow,
My best time was 15.39 @ 90.7 mph! At least 1mph better
than my previous
best and right on the money ET wise. I could feel the
loss of the JET at
the bottom end , but my top end made up for it! The
heat was also brutal.
The truck proceeded to slow down from the first run with
its worst time
                being a 15.55. Beat a 67 mustang rather soundly! I
think once the JET is
back and the track is cooler (my previous best time was
at a 90 degree track
day) I might be looking at 15.2 or even 15.1 E/Ts!! At
least ILl get a
                better, more scientific comparison!

                Hay Steve.
Hold off on the throttle body for a couple of days. I
have been playing with
a couple of these (flow work, different shafts,
different plate sizes, etc,
                etc, etc, etc).
I finished the first one during the week and Bruce
Bridges installed it on
his truck on Friday and hopefully he will have a chance
to take it to the
                strip today.
The bottom line on this is that the mill work (whatever
the final outcome),
on the NC mill only takes approx. 15 minutes. The first
one that Bruce has,
                the flow
at WOT was increased by 13% and so far no "check engine
light". The one that
I'll be putting on my truck has larger bores 2.020
(still waiting for the
                new brass
plates) but it is already to assemble. It actually takes
longer to
disassemble, clean and re-assemble. If this works
according to plan, it
                could save you a lot
                of money.
                        Frank
