I don't know about the VIN, but the mileage must be in the computer because
the '98+ trucks use a digital odometer... the display comes directly from
the PCM (or whatever they call it)
This subject came up once on the DiRT list, and we were wondering if this
was a hold up to the release of the PCM... causes a real problem.. there
would be a black market for low mileage PCMs... so they may REQUIRE that the
MP PCM is installed by the dealer, to ensure the old PCM is returned...
bummer.

There's lots of other reasons I'm glad I don't live in the people's republic
of California... no offense to anyone that lives there... but it makes me
wonder about places that want CARB certified parts as well...

makes me glad I live in a county with no emission testing...
