arcing wire-rough idle

" Everything was fine except for the coil to distributor wire. It had
a
nice arc going on to the valve cover (the wire rests up against it),
about 5" long. Tried to pull it away to no avail. Got an idea to get
some conduit off of some old wires I had laying around to insulate the
wire. I split it down the middle, took off of old wires, and slid on to
my trucks wire. Mine was arcing at the front of the valve cover closer
to the coil than dis. . "

-Sounds like what you need is a new coil wire. All you did was insulate
yours well enough that the voltage finds it easier to stay in the core
than arc through the insulation. A new wire wont arc when laid next to
the valve cover...
