In order for Bernd to express his "Well Put!" he opted to subject the list
to an entire quote of 2 days of discussion (including quoting himself twice)
in, not only, text format but also in HTML tagged format.
Not intending to just pick on him, but quote-mania as a whole. On old BBS
systems (most had poor thread following) it was a necessary evil, but with
modern e-mail it's not necessary. I am subscribed to the DML digest version.
Those of us with this version have to scroll through these posts of incredible
lengths just to get to the next message. It's not too fair to the other
DML'ers to have their posts get accidentally skipped because I'm trying to
scroll past the HMS Titanic of the Quote Seas.
I don't care about the "Me Too"'s and "Well Put"'s of the planet as long as
they don't quote all of the original message if it's some long one. I also
saw another set of 6 deep quote >>>>>> symbols in two different posts today.
If you have all original material and it goes for 120 lines, I don't really
care, but all of this quoting and duplicate html stuff is getting WAAAAY out
of hand.
I don't have the ability to filter or re-direct mail so I have to suffer
when inconsiderate posts are made. I suppose I'll just have to live with it
since those who are doing it most don't seem to care, unless Jon can filter
the crap out at the server level, which would make him a mail server GOD in my
book.
I won't post anything else on this topic to the list as it's a silly waste
of Bandwidth to educate people in common courtesy and netiquette.
