I think all NV-3500s do it to some degree. Maybe the older the tranny
the more
obvious it becomes (?). Funny thing though, most shifts are relativly
smooth,
many times when racing I don't even think about shifting, it just
happens. Other
times I have to give it a little attention. No doubt a good synthetic
lubricant
is a must for our trannys.

I've thought about replacing that big black (straight) stick on my 98
with a
nice chrome and steel Hurst shifter. I'll bet this mod would be close to
the
same. No way I could make it as short, my head would be bumping the
steering
wheel on every shift. I would hate for the airbag to blow while trying
to
make 3rd gear, can you say "Icabod Crane and his haunted Dak".
