Pat, that will work in extremely cold conditions and at high speeds, but in
stop and go traffic where you may idle for a long time you can overheat fast.
Ask Mike D. When I met him to go up to Cecil dragway in Nov., I had a the 180
in and a piece of cardboard covering only half the radiator. I was showing
him my truck and antifreeze started leaking from the cap. It was only for a
few minutes and the gauge was almost on H.
Also, diesels must run hotter because they rely on the heat generated from the
engine for combustion. No spark plugs there.
