I have an '89 Vette and here's the skinny on the trans. If you are going less
than 20 mph & at less than 1/2 throttle then the transmission has a re-director
that forces the shifter into 4th. If you give anything more than half throttle
then the re-director doesn't come into play. I found it quite annoying and have
since disabled that "feature". As far as the computer goes - mine will give
full power anytime. Even when it was stock (many, many mods ago) it could smoke
the tires (same 275/40/17 package mentioned earlier) all the way through first
and chirp into third without powershifting. As far as the oversteer goes, once
you get used to it in the Vette's, the cars are so light and the tires so wide
that the oversteer is actually very predictable and usable.
