I believe if you got the V8 with the 5 spd transmission, you get the 9 1/4"
rear. I have seen some V8's with the smaller rear, so I assume they were
auto's. Also I think the Durangos with the 360 get the big rear no matter
what tranny they have. I don't think you could just order the rear as a
separate option.
