After months of not finding a decent match-up, I found one last night.
I'm cruising around and I see a late-80s IROC ahead of me. Kid and his
girlfriend. Cool. Get beside him at about 35 mph and inch ahead of
him. He, of course, nudges the gas because as insecure males, we must
not be left behind. I respond with a stomp, as does he. I pull away a
little bit, but he keeps up. We get to a light. He's got a big grin
and is motioning for a race. I happily oblige. He revs it up, telling
me that it's a 5 spd, If stock, that would be a TPI 305, but I've seen
many around that have had 350s put in them. Anyway, I brake torque to
1300 rpm, light goes green, I stomp it and spin. I think he spun too,
but I was concentratng on me. I drive through the spin and get a
fender on him. He pulls his nose to my front wheel, but loses ground
on his 1-2 shift. He pulls to my front wheel again, but we shut it
down for the next light. R/T 1, Iroc 0.
