Power potential of 360?

Does anyone have any info about what the HP and torque limits are for
the 360? By 360, I mean either a "street" 360, Hughes or Kammer & Kammer
built engine, a MP crate motor, whatever. (I don't know if there are
differences in the wall thickness or whatever from the street to the
crate motors...)

Surely there has to be some sort of limit, i.e. once you get over X hp
and Y ft-lb, the engine just won't be able to take any more. (Cracked
block? Melted valves?)

I'm just trying to figure out my options and plan for the future.
My goals are a very, very fast Dak which is also streetable. A big
goal is also to keep it as cheap as possible! Obviously, the 360ci
Magnum engine is the easiest choice as it'll bolt right in and many
parts from my current 318 will interchange. (On that topic, how much
power can the stock motor mounts handle? I've done some research
and the 500ci motors from MP (500hp and 545hp) are about $6-7K; that's
only a couple of grand away from a 426 HEMI! The 360 crate motors are
a lot more reasonable, and of course there is also the option of a
street motor built up by Kammer & Kammer or Hughes.

I think I'll need anywhere from 650-800hp to be where I want.
(very low 11's, maybe even dipping into 10s) Can the 360 produce this
kind of HP reliably? I suppose the best way to go about it would be a
200-300hp shot of nitrous on top of an already hot 360. I've thought
about using a twin turbo setup along with a smaller shot of juice, but
this is all speculation at this point.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge dealing with extracting this
kind of HP from a smallblock? I suspect I'll need all forged
internals? I'm afraid to ask how much that will cost... :-(

Here are some ideas I've had; this is the general direction I'm
leaning in the moment, maybe someone can tell me if I'm on the
right track or not... Take a 380 crate motor or Kammer & Kammer/Hughes
prepped 360, drop it into my Dak, install my MPI M1 manifold and F&B
Stage II TB for now (or the MP 4bbl TB later), add some larger injectors,
use an FP Performance SEFI8LO system to handle the fuel injection duties,
either the Holley Annihilator or Pro Strip Annihilator w/ Holley's
coil for spark (and useful rev limiters and switches), and add an NX
wet plate system. I figure that with just the standard 150hp
shot (on the 380 crate), that should be good for over 500hp, which
should get me into the high 11's. I suspect that anything over the
150hp shot will need some forged internals. ?
A a beefy rearend (8.75-9.75 with 4.10s or so) is probably going
to be a nescessity. When I do the rearend, I've been thinking of
moving the springs inboard to make way for some WIDE rear tires.
If/when the NV3500 dies or I get sick of sluggish and slow shifts, a
race prepped auto (you win, Bill) ;-) with a ratchet shifter and
possibly a transbrake. (No idea what sort of stall converter I'd
need though.)

Oh, I did mention daily driver, right? :-) Actually, I think
it'll be quite streetable since a big part of the power will be
due to the juice, and the SEFI8LO will allow me to "de-tune" it
for the street, if nescessary.

Well, any help or advice would be most welcome! This is a long
term project, but I want to do it right the first time... Oh, and
hey, if you steal my ideas and get to this before me, at least let me
drive your Dak, OK? :-)

 Thanks very much in advance!
