Re: Can't Rev past 3400 (The *Real* Thread / Update)

Here's the update after driving more than just around the block.

Good news: no more ping / ticking noise.

Bad News: Still has cold start issues. Need to crank it 2 or 3 times
(couple seconds max each) before it starts. Once it starts it's fine. Had
this issue before the timing chain replacement.

It will Rev beyond 3400 in neutral or first gear. Didn't go past about 4200
as I didn't want to cause more issues quite yet :)
It just seems like there's a huge drag on it. It's sort of feels like
someone snuck up behind you just as you were starting to go up a big hill
and attached a trailer on. It doesn't bog / hesitate, but it doesn't seem
to be making much power.

Up a very slight incline on the freeway I couldn't make it up to 70 MPH. It
even took a while to reach it on the downhill. I don't want to know what my
0-60 time would be now.

I don't have a AF gague. I guess I could steal a fuel pressure gague from
another vehicle, but I don't have access to the vehicle now, and I won't
until next week. If you think it's timing, I'd go with that as the culprit.
If I can screw up a timing chain install once, I can do it twice:) At least
my second attempt got it to a runable state. Is there any easy way to
confirm timing without pulling everything off again? Even though I'm
getting better at it, I'd really rather not do it again.
