drag racing 4X4 dak?

as the drag season rolls ever closer, i am wondering about something. i
want to time my 96 5.2L 5spd 4x4 at the local strip, just for the fun of
it. i know that i am not the greatest "off the line", besides the fact
that that engine will smoke the tires, ANY tires, quite easily. so i was
wondering.....what would happen with it in 4-wheel-high? i know the
engine would have to be turning more parts, BUT wouldn't the extra
traction be a good idea for not spinning the tires? or would it destroy
the 4x system? i use 4-wheel-high here on the roads all the time in any
kind of slippery weather (of course i don't do tight turns), and it seems
to not hurt it at all. i am just thinking it might help the ET to have it
engaged in straight-line-dry-pavement work. if anybody has any experience
with this, please write back. or if this sounds like mechanical suicide,
let me know before i try something stupid.
